As the Yemeni Civil War broke out in 2015, Mohammed Al Samawi — an increasingly prominent interfaith activist — became a target for al Qaeda operatives and extremist groups. He decided to make a last-ditch appeal for help, reaching out to his Facebook network in an attempt to receive aid. His daring escape to freedom is chronicled in his new book, The Fox Hunt: A Refugee’s Memoir of Coming to America.
Mohammed joined IVY in DC to discuss three vital lessons he learned along the way. The conversation was moderated by one of his aides, Megan Hallahan.
